Electrolux EWT1315 E90 error
Hi,
We have an old Electrolux EWT-1315 and now it unusable, but we very like it.
So we decided we will save our old machine.
About 2 month ago the following issue appears:
First 30 min. short program runs successfully.
Second 30 min. short program runs correctly but the 7 segment LED display was flashing randomly
Third 30 min. short program won't run and E90 error displayed.
The service mode wasn't work, E90 error code was displayed. (E90 means communication error)
I switched off the machine.
The next day I repeated it again, the 1st cycle was success, ...
The next day again.
I disassembled the machine, there wasn't any water drops so I disassembled the main
electric panel. I had found some smoke remainings on the panel.
OK, I ordered a brand new main electronic panel. Today morning I assembled it and
the E90 error appeared on first switch on.
I'm lost, but I don't want to give up.
Have you any idea what should the next step be?
Laxi
ps: sorry my English, I'm Hungarian.
Solution Summary
AI-generated from this discussion
This thread was marked as solved. Here's a summary of the problem and the fix, generated from the discussion below.
Electrolux EWT1315 showing E90 communication error
- The problem
- An Electrolux EWT1315 washing machine would initially complete one 30-minute short cycle, then on a second cycle the display flashed randomly, and by the third cycle it would not run and showed E90. Service mode also showed E90. The owner found smoke residue on the main electronic panel and replaced the main PCB, but the E90 fault remained immediately on first power-up.
- Likely cause
- Most strongly supported diagnosis is a communication fault between the control panel and main PCB, caused by a wiring/connection issue or a fault in the control panel, PCB, or both. The exact failed part was not confirmed.
- What fixed it
- Recommended action was to check all wiring and connections between the control panel and PCB, and inspect the connector contacts for poor contact or looseness. Light cleaning/roughening of the PCB contact area at the key connectors was suggested as a possible long-shot check. No confirmed repair outcome was posted.
- Checks to try
- Observed random flashing of the 7-segment display before failure
- Service mode also displayed E90
- Machine was disassembled and no water droplets were found
- Smoke residue was found on the main electronic panel
- Main electronic panel/PCB was replaced but E90 remained
- Advised to check all connections and wires between the control panel and PCB
- Suggested inspection of connector blocks for loose wires or flattened terminals
- Parts or tools mentioned
- Main electronic panel/PCB
- Control panel
- Connector blocks
Safety: Further diagnosis should be carried out by a suitably qualified appliance engineer.

Communication error could be a connection problem between the control panel and the PCB, or a fault on either the PCB or control panel, or a fault with them both. If you check all connections and wires between them and find nothing it's a big gamble trying to replace either the PCB or control panel.

Thank you Andy,
I going to check the all connections and PCB.
A new hope

You could try very gently roughening the printed circuit board where the key connectors fit and carefully examining each connector inside the connector blocks to see if any wire is loose or the metal connector has gone so flat it isn't contacting the board's printed circuit. It's pretty much a long shot but worth trying.
