Hotpoint Waching Machine, Dyes All White Clothes

I just moved to a new house that has a Hotpoint 7kg washing machine. Like this one

http://www.hotpoint.co.uk/product-details/-/details/washing_machines/BUILT_IN_BHWMD_742/F078614

(no the builtin)

I put a pair of sheets in one of the strong programs , 60 degrees for whites. Initially I didn't notice it, but then I put a white jacket at the same program and the sheets and the jacket came out with a light blue color. At the sheets it wasn't that noticeable at the begining, but now it is. The jacket has definitely taken a light blue color. How is it possible that the washing machine colors cloths without having any other blue garment inside?

Any suggestions on how to fix it?

Only thing I can think of is the previous owners washed something, or dyed something, or there's something stuck in the machine leaking it. First thing to do is put the machine on a few 90 degree boil washes with normal detergent but no laundry in to see if you can clear it.

either that or something peculiar with the soap you are using?
