Hotpoint rd966j screen not working
Hi. I have a hotpoint rd966j and the lady display is not working properly, it's just orange. Can this just be replaced with an lcd display or will I have to buy the correct one from hotpoint?
Thanks

I would expect that it’s only possible to replace the entire control panel. There’s no guarantee that the fault isn’t caused by a faulty connection or even a fault on the main pcb which supplies it.
I expect the odds are more likely that it just needs a new control panel, but it would be a case of making a gamble as you wouldn’t be able to return the part if it didn’t work.

An even longer shot if not tried already, is to unplug for 5 mins and try a completely different wall socket, just in case the software has crashed. Very long shot but easy to try.
Need Professional Help or Spare Parts?
One very long shot is sometimes LCD displays are connected to the circuit board by a zebra strip, which is a rubber strip packed with conductive fibres running through it that make connections between the connection pads on the display and the PCB, and if it is not clamped properly, or moisture, or other contaminates get in, it looses connection. It is more common to loose parts of the display if that happens though.
But, I would guess they are much more likely to use pins or a ribbon cable in a washing machine, due to needing to withstand vibration and humidity.
May be worth investigating if you decide to scrap the machine rather than getting it repaired.
