How To remove Plastic Door From Miele Washer/dryer

I rang Miele again and they said they weren't aware of a plastic cover and it shouldn't be there either but they will get an installer to ring tomorrow. The plastic cover is definitely there and it stops you putting your hand on the glass of the door but the manual does not mention it. The ones in the shop dont have the plastic cover and the manual gives instructions to clean the glass. I will be upset if it turns out that it should be there now that I have cracked it trying to get it off but it looks fairly well attached. Have the miele machines you have worked on had plastic covers like a porthole over the door?

This sounds intriguing Sweal. I can't imagine how a plastic cover could be there if not designed to be, and I've never come across any transit packing cover over a door that needs removing. However, I've not seen the very latest design of Miele washing machines up close yet, and it's impossible to be sure from the brochure pictures.

As I said before, if anything needed removing from the door it should definitely be in the instructions. If it's double glazing for the door, then the instruction book wouldn't necessarily mention it as you aren't meant to do anything with it.

you were right, it was a plastic cover to keep hands from getting burned by touching the glass. There was a confusion between me and miele but because they told me to try to remove the door - they replaced the whole machine !!!. Apparently no spare parts at present. This is fantastic service and I have been recommending Miele to all my friends. They acknowledged a mistake and accepted responsibility. This is marvellous customer service

Thanks for that Sweal. Someone else had a problem with a new Miele washing machine that leaked straight away. Again it turned out to be not the washing machine at fault (installation fault) but they still swapped the machine immediately. It seems that along with the high quality product, you get a high quality, no quibble service, although there seems to have been someone who didn't get to grips with your initial telephone query and could have prevented all this hassle.
