Hotpoint Wd440 component identification
One of the plugs has become disconnected from the PCB and not sure where to plug it back in, can anyone tell me what the component is in the picture to help me work it out.
thanks

Hello. That is the dryer fan motor. Has the plug definitely come off on its own? It shouldn't happen at all unless someone has actually taken it off. There are sometimes spare connectors and wires around a timer or PCB which are not meant to be plugged in. I've seen them used for testing purposes.

Hello. No worries :-) a properly designed PCB should have keyed connections so that it's not possible to connect the connector the wrong way round. If all of the other connectors are on them presumably there is only one slot that it could fit? And the connector should only fit one way?
Having said that if that was the case you probably might not have come here. And secondly I have seen designs where connectors would fit 2 ways round which is ridiculous. If it would help you could try posting a photo? If the connector is traced back to the dryer fan motor is the washing machine otherwise working okay?

Yep ok you got me, i was replacing the pcb and didn't take a photo. We don't use the dryer part anyway so can leave that out.
many thanks
