Hotpoint WMF760P AquariusPlus-Powering on after selecting "Off"
The machine will complete its cycle-I then power the machine off with the button on the front panel.
2/3 mins later the display is fully lit.

It sounds like a possible faulty on off switch. Some of them are built into the main control panel these days though.
