LG Washer Dryer F1480RD - incoming water wont be stopped

Hi All,

I have an lg washer dryer f1480rd and the washing drum will be filled up with water if I dont cut the water supply. The machine begins to fill up itself with water as usually, but wont stop entering that. The water level tube from the drum is not dirty and can be blown through. I hope its not the "ECU", the main electronic panel of the machine which has gone wring. Does anybody have any ideas?

Thanks in advance

Kind regards

AI-generated from this discussion

This thread was marked as solved. Here's a summary of the problem and the fix, generated from the discussion below.

LG F1480RD overfilling and not stopping water intake

The problem
LG washer dryer F1480RD was filling with water and would not stop unless the water supply was turned off. The original poster said the level tube from the drum was not dirty and could be blown through.
Likely cause
The strongest supported diagnosis is a blocked pressure system, particularly the pressure chamber and related tube/sensor area being restricted by limescale and debris. This was identified as the most common cause in the discussion, and the poster later confirmed limescale contamination in the pipe, chamber and even the water pressure sensor. A main control board fault was only suggested as a possibility and was not evidenced.
What fixed it
Recommended action was to inspect and clear the pressure system. The poster reported that parts of the machine were dismantled and the pipe, chamber and pressure sensor area were found contaminated with limescale. However, after this the machine still did not cut off the water supply by itself, and they planned to inspect the main panel for damage. No final successful repair was confirmed.
Checks to try
  • Level tube checked and could be blown through
  • Pipe found full of limescale
  • Pressure chamber found full of limescale
  • Water pressure sensor found contaminated with limescale
Parts or tools mentioned
  • Pressure chamber
  • Level tube
  • Water pressure sensor
  • Main panel

Safety: Further diagnosis should be carried out by a suitably qualified appliance engineer.

A good friend dismantled some things in the machine, the pipe and chamber were full of lime, even the water pressure sensor. The machine is working, but the water supply wont cut by itself. We will take a look on the main panel if anything is burnt.

If the pressure chamber is blocked with gunge and limescale it can stop the air pressure rising up the small tube and operating the pressure switch causing overfilling. Full details included in this page - Faults on pressure system
