Wml560 hotpoint problem
HI
MY mother has a WML560 Hotpoint washer, which has had a problem for a while. 2 program cycles often don't complete. I checked the height of the pipe and then removed the filter cleaned it checking the exit pipe and also made sure the pump worked. The machine seemed to work for a few days but has now started to constantly fill and empty on the rinse cycle and won't move on. Though we manage to get it to move using the rail to change the setting. The motor has turned the drum and spun. But it seems now to be stuck on fill empty again. Is the the main pcb or the switch pub? Please help.

This thread was marked as solved. Here's a summary of the problem and the fix, generated from the discussion below.
Hotpoint WML560 repeatedly filling and emptying on rinse
- The problem
- A Hotpoint WML560 washing machine would not complete two programmes and on the rinse cycle repeatedly filled and emptied without advancing. The drum and spin functions were reported to work, and the machine could sometimes be moved on manually with the programme selector.
- Likely cause
- The accepted diagnosis was siphoning caused by the drain hose being pushed too far into the standpipe or hanging too low, allowing water to run away and the machine to keep refilling.
- What fixed it
- Check and correct the drain hose position to prevent siphoning. The discussion did not confirm any PCB or pressure switch fault, and no component replacement was supported.
- Checks to try
- Drain hose height was checked by the user
- Filter was removed and cleaned
- Exit pipe was checked
- Pump operation was checked
- Motor was reported to turn the drum and spin
- Accepted advice was to check for siphoning from incorrect drain hose position

Hello. If the drain hose is pushed too far down the standpipe or is allowed to fall too low to the ground then water can siphon down the drain. That would cause the washing machine to repeatedly fill with water, lose water down the drain and then fill trying to top it up in an endless cycle. Check the siphoning section of this article Siphoning water
