Many Thanks for any advice

Solution Summary

AI-generated from this discussion

This thread was marked as solved. Here's a summary of the problem and the fix, generated from the discussion below.

Miele Mod 1914 showing heating fault at end of wash

The problem
A Miele washing machine, model 1914, displayed a heating fault at the end of every wash. The machine is stated to be 7 years old and cold fill only. The user suspected the water might not be heating, although washing was still coming out clean.
Likely cause
The strongest diagnosis in the discussion is that the heating fault may refer to the machine not heating the water properly. No component-level cause was confirmed.
What fixed it
No repair steps or confirmed fix were documented. The advice given was that the fault likely relates to water heating and that, at 7 years old, the machine should generally be worth repairing unless the cost is excessive. The exact repair was not confirmed.
Checks to try
  • Confirmed the displayed message was 'Heating fault' rather than 'Hot water fault' or 'Water fault'
  • Confirmed the machine is cold fill only
  • Checked the instruction book, which advised contacting the service department

Safety: Further diagnosis should be carried out by a suitably qualified appliance engineer.

Hello Eamon. Is the error code "hot water fault" described in the instruction manual at all? It sounds quite vague. It's definitely, "hot water fault and not "water fault"? I've not heard of this error. Also is it a hot and cold fill washing machine? I presume so from the description of the error code but most washing machines have been cold fill only for a long time now.

Hi

the machine is 7years old, cold fill only, the fault code is. Heating fault

In the book it's saying contact service Department

which I did but it's so expensive

Many Thanks Eamon

Ahh. You said Hot Water Fault by mistake. Heating fault may be referring to it not heating the water. If the washing machine is only 7 years old it should be worth having repaired as long as it’s not ridiculously expensive.
