Samsung 4E error
My Samsung washer displayed a 4E error, it’s filling and working in the rinse cycle but nothing else, checked water supply, saw the soluloid was completely rusted so replaced, still nothing, replaced pressure switch, still not working in other cycles,
still showing 4E code. Any suggestions please,

Samsung washing machine showing 4E despite parts replacement
- The problem
- A Samsung washing machine displayed 4E. The user reported it would fill and work on the rinse cycle but not on other cycles. The water supply had been checked, and the inlet solenoid described as rusted was replaced, followed by replacement of the pressure switch, but the 4E fault remained.
- Likely cause
- The accepted diagnosis was a water supply / water level sensing fault. 4E was described as being triggered when no change in water level is detected within two minutes during fill. If water is entering, the most strongly supported possibilities were siphoning, so water runs straight to drain, or a blockage in the pressure chamber / pressure system preventing the pressure switch from detecting the rising level.
- What fixed it
- Recommended action was to confirm whether water is actually entering and whether the water level rises normally. If water enters but does not stay in the drum, check for siphoning. If water enters and the level continues rising without the wash starting, check the pressure chamber / pressure system for blockage. The exact repair carried out was not confirmed in the discussion.
- Checks to try
- Water supply checked
- Inlet solenoid replaced
- Pressure switch replaced
- Observe whether water is entering the machine
- Check whether water is running straight down the drain (siphoning)
- Check for blockage in the pressure chamber / pressure system
- Observe whether water level keeps rising in the drum
- Parts or tools mentioned
- Inlet solenoid
- Pressure switch
Safety: Further diagnosis should be carried out by a suitably qualified appliance engineer.

Sorry for late reply. According to my information the error 4E on the Samsung washing machine is a water supply error. It says that if no change in water level is detected inside two minutes when on fill by the pressure switch then it will trigger this error. So basically it is waiting for water to be sensed inside the washing machine, which is what the pressure system does. So generally speaking I would expect no water to be going into the washing machine. If water is going into the washing machine, but it is still triggering this error then the first thing I would check is that the water isn't running straight down the drain which can happen under certain circumstances (siphoning).
If there was a blockage at the bottom of the pressure chamber then this would also prevent the pressure switch from switching on. In this last scenario you should expect to see water filling up inside the drum, getting higher and higher until it over fills.
All of the scenarios I mention are covered in the following articles -

If water is going into the washing machine but doesn't seem to rise very high in the drum check this article - Washing machine fills and drains at same time
