Zanussi washer Zwt71201wa pump running continuously
Hi, my 15 month old zanussi Zwt71201wa stopped draining yesterday, this was due to debris jamming pump impeller. Now that has been removed, the pump continues to run without moving on to the next stage in the cycle, on any programme.
Have tried pouring water in the drum and pump is definitely pumping out into a bucket until it's empty, but carries on pumping.
Have tried blowing down pressure switch pipe to pump area and a bubbling is heard.
Have tried master reset holding down two buttons, going through each programme clockwise and retried spin cycle. It still just continuously pumps.
Code showing is e21.
I've kinda hit a brick wall and would appreciate any help or guidance.
Many thanks.
Liam.

This thread was marked as solved. Here's a summary of the problem and the fix, generated from the discussion below.
Zanussi ZWT71201WA stuck in continuous drain with E21
- The problem
- A Zanussi ZWT71201WA stopped draining because debris had jammed the pump impeller. After the debris was removed, the machine would pump out water but then continue running the drain pump and would not move on to the next stage on any programme. Fault code E21 was displayed.
- Likely cause
- The accepted diagnosis was either incomplete drain performance or, if the pump can lift water properly, a fault in the pressure system. The strongest suggested cause was a blockage in the pressure chamber/pressure sensing system preventing the machine from recognising that the water had emptied.
- What fixed it
- The recommended action was to properly test whether the drain pump could lift water up around 3 to 4 feet via the drain hose. If the pump could do that, attention should turn to the pressure system, particularly a possible blockage in the pressure chamber. The exact repair carried out was not confirmed in the discussion.
- Checks to try
- Pump impeller was found jammed with debris and the debris was removed
- Machine was tested pumping water out into a bucket until empty
- Pressure switch pipe was blown through and bubbling was heard
- Master reset was attempted
- Fault code E21 was noted
- Advice was given to test whether the pump could lift water 3 to 4 feet through the drain hose
Safety: Further diagnosis should be carried out by a suitably qualified appliance engineer.

When you say the pump is pumping into a bucket how high is the bucket? If you place a bucket onto the floor and put the drain hose into it the water will easily pour through but it needs testing to see if it can pump the water up at least 3 or 4 feet.
E21 on many Zanussi washing machines means, "difficulty draining". So if it is still pumping up to 3 or 4 feet high then I'd suspect a problem with the pressure system. The pressure system is what tells the washing machine how much water is inside. A blockage in the pressure chamber for example can stop the signal that the water has all gone. I have an article describing common faults on washing machine pressure system
