Hoover Dynamic Next washer/dryer - filter is jammed
Hi, my washing machine started giving code E20, and I read that this is the filter being blocked. I managed to drain some of the water out of it into bowls using the drain/spin cycle, but the filter won't come out. The white flat front part comes out but the black filter part won't turn at all. I have broken the lugs trying to get the blooming thing out!
I don't mind having to buy a new filter / pump (I see you have links for this, thank you) but how will I get the thing out in the first place? I read your article, and just want to clarify - I have someone else tip it backwards, take off the bottom panel and then I should see the pump? Then if anything is in there I try and remove it and then hopefully the filter part will come out? I would really appreciate your clarification as I want to try this before calling in a repairman.

Hello there. If you are buying a new filter I would just force it out. Obviously don't go at it like a bull in a china shop but when something is jammed we are normally afraid of breaking it but if it is an old part that is being replaced this isn't a problem as long as you don't break anything else. I'm not sure exactly which articles you have read, it might have been this one where I have a section about jammed pump filters within it Washing Machine Pump Filter washing machines differ. Some of them have an open base. But some of them have a cover covering up the base. If I was looking to deal with the sump hose and pump the first thing I would do (after disconnecting it from the mains of course) is to take off the back panel.
From there you can see the samples and the pump clearly and can assess what else you might need to do. I would commonly disconnect completely from the plumbing and lay the washing machine down on its front to get good access. However if the washing machine has water inside this could allow water to run out and onto parts. Sometimes I would lay the washing machine over onto a bowl or something that kept it slightly raised up by at least 4 to 5 inches.

Thank you so much - I have tried brute force - pliers, screwdriver, knife lol and it still won't budge, which is how I broke it in the first place I will try taking off the back panel and see how I go - thank you for your help
