This thread was marked as solved. Here's a summary of the problem and the fix, generated from the discussion below.
Hoover condenser dryer stops after 5 minutes with water tank and filter symbols lit
- The problem
- The Hoover tumble dryer runs for about 5 minutes, then stops and shows the two far-right symbols. From the discussion these were identified as the water tank warning and the lint/filter airflow warning.
- Likely cause
- The strongest diagnosis was significant internal lint build-up affecting both airflow and the condensate sensing system. Wet lint on the water sensor can make the dryer think the tank is full when it is empty, and lint on filters/condenser can reduce airflow and cause the filter warning.
- What fixed it
- Recommended action was to clean the dryer thoroughly, including the door mesh filter, condenser cassette and any other filters. A deeper internal clean was also advised because the symptoms together were said to commonly indicate heavy internal lint accumulation. The exact repair carried out was not confirmed in the thread.
- Checks to try
- Dryer runs for about 5 minutes then stops
- Two warning symbols identified as water tank and lint/filter indicators
- Water tank warning may appear even when tank is empty
- Airflow through the filter system was reported as low
- Suggested cleaning of the condenser cassette
- Parts or tools mentioned
- door mesh filter
- condenser cassette
- water tank sensor
- compressed air
Safety: Further diagnosis should be carried out by a suitably qualified appliance engineer.

Hi. The top one looks like a water symbol. Is it taking in water? Or is it filling with water but the water is running down the drain and not filling the drum?
A washing machine will abort the cycle and display error codes if it hasn’t filled with the right amount of water within a set period of time.
Any error symbols should be listed in the instruction manual although not all will have proper explanations

The upper symbol relates to the water tank on this condenser dryer, it indicates the tank (erroneously?) needs to be emptied even when it’s actually empty
The lower symbol relates to the lint filter, the machine is indicating the the air flow through the filter is low and the filters needs cleaning, note this is the door mesh filter, the cassette and any other filter in the dryer
With other brands of condenser dryer I’ve worked on these two symptoms together with a short run and stop mean that there is a significant lint buildup inside the machine, typically the dryer will not have been cleaned internally of lint in more than a couple of years especially if it’s had heavy use
In the case of the water tank system, wet lint builds up on the metal prongs of the water sensor in a sump and the dryer thinks it is full of water even when it’s actually empty
In the case of the filter system, wet lint clings to the metal surfaces of the condenser and reduces drying efficiency and airflow
I’d recommend a through clean inside the machine, wet lint prevents the dryer working properly (dry lint is a fire hazard), you’ll need to take the covers off the dryer, ideally use compressed air outside the house
Short term you can try using a shower to clean the condenser cassette
Hope this helps
