hoover-hdb5106 washer dryer taking a long time to dry
Hi,
I have a hoover-hdb5106 washer dryer that is taking longer than it used to dry clothes, and they still feel a bit damp. Def used to be better. Feels like the humidity doesn't get removed.
Gets hot and steamy in the drum, so all good with the heater.
Feel like I need to clean something but there's just the pump filter which is fine, not sure where the condenser is or how to tell if its working - I guess I could check the drain to see if water is coming out?
There seems to be very little manuals available, so looking for someone who can point me in the right direction.
thanks

This thread was marked as solved. Here's a summary of the problem and the fix, generated from the discussion below.
Hoover HDB5106 washer dryer drying poorly with hot, steamy drum
- The problem
- A Hoover HDB5106 washer dryer was taking longer than it used to dry clothes. The laundry was still slightly damp at the end, although the drum was getting hot and steamy. The pump filter had been checked and reported as fine.
- Likely cause
- The accepted reply said a major component fault was less likely because more severe symptoms would normally be expected. The strongest supported diagnosis was a developing partial blockage somewhere in the dryer air or moisture-removal path, but the exact location was not confirmed.
- What fixed it
- No specific repair was documented. The accepted advice was that the symptoms suggested the start of a restriction rather than a clear failed part, and that further investigation of possible blockage-related drying issues was needed. The exact repair was not confirmed.
- Checks to try
- Pump filter checked and found fine
- Machine reported to get hot and steamy in the drum during drying
Safety: Further diagnosis should be carried out by a suitably qualified appliance engineer.

Hello Kevin. If there was a fault would normally expect more severe symptoms, though if there is definitely a big change it could be that something is just starting to cause a problem.
I have an article about this kind of issue, although normally it's when it's much worse than that, that is the clothes are coming out hot and steamy but still wet through. It's worth reading because it gives an insight into how it all works. It may be that you have a partial blockage somewhere that is going to get worse.
