Hotpoint Aquarius WML520. Laundry coming out of washer covered in new stains.

Please please help.

My laundry is coming out with horrible liquid type stains that won't come out and some of our clothes are being ruined. We thought it was an issue with the certain type of liquitabs we were using but we have recently changed to another brand and still having the same problems.

On a full load it might only be on one garment so completely random. It isn't affecting every piece of laundry I put in.

Please click on link below for photo of latest piece of ruined laundry.

Is there a "fix at home" solution and if not, would it be a pricey job for a professional.

Thanks.

This thread was marked as solved. Here's a summary of the problem and the fix, generated from the discussion below.

Hotpoint Aquarius WML520 leaving random liquid stains on laundry

The problem
Laundry was coming out of a Hotpoint Aquarius WML520 with random new liquid-type stains that would not wash out. The issue did not affect every item, and changing liquitab brand did not stop it.
Likely cause
The accepted reply suggested overloading the drum, leading to poor detergent distribution and detergent going directly onto some garments. Use of liquid detergent products was also implicated as a possible factor. This was a diagnosis rather than a confirmed fault.
What fixed it
Reduce load size so the drum is not packed tightly, and try switching from liquid detergent/liquitabs to normal detergent. The exact repair or long-term result was not confirmed in the discussion.
Checks to try
  • Consider whether the drum is being overloaded
  • Note that stains appear randomly and only on some garments
  • Changing liquitab brand did not resolve the issue

Hello. The first thing is to ensure you are not overloading the drum. If it's really packed tight then the detergent can't distribute properly and can go directly onto laundry causing problems. Read my article here - Washing not getting clean in washing machine and carefully think about if any of it could be applicable. Finally I would try normal detergent instead of liquid.
