Whining sound from Beko washing machine when drum rotates
Hi,
My washing machine is making a high pitched weird whining sound whenever the drum rotates by hand and on a washing cycle.
I've checked online and on other forum topics here but all that people say is bra wire or something stuck in the drum, but I've looked all over but found nothing. Somebody else mentioned something about the motor brushes? I opened up the back panel and found that the noise is louder. I've also tried to move the drum and theres no play in the bearings.
Has anybody witnessed this before with their Beko washing machine and do you know if its something I can fix at home? It is no longer under warranty.
Any help would be greatful.
Please find video links below which shows the problem.

Hello there, that ratchety sound is the sound of the carbon brushes. It's normally present on a brand-new washing machine, or if new carbon brushes have been fitted. If new carbon brushes have not just been fitted and the noise has just started I would definitely check the carbon brushes. Having said that they don't normally make that noise when they are worn but they could be something wrong. Also it appears that the washing machine is going into spin and thrown a lot of water and soap around which implies that the pump is not pumping out the water properly or fast enough. I would check the pump filter first.

It's the carbon brushes or a brush holder catching. Take the brushes out and check everything.

Hi Andy,
Thanks for replying so quickly!
We bought the appliance about 2 years ago and in the past the noise was intermittent, but now its permanent. The carbon brushes have only been fitted from new.
I took the belt off yesterday and 100% narrowed it down to the motor, please see new YouTube links:

The drum spinning on its own doesn't make the noise.
Do you think it could be the motor bearings? What sort of thing should I look out for on the carbon brushes?
Regarding the pump filter, I'll look to see if theres any debris in the filter.
Thanks again
