Miele aqua stop hose

hello all

i have a Miele w3364 washing machine

after it having a clean in the soap tray and a couple of 95dg maintenance washes i had a "check inlet" led light appear and the water inlet motor at the back of the soap tray the red wheel kept

going round without stopping, allowing water to enter constantly, it burnt the motor out within a few mins

so i have new one which is now going around without stopping. Now though the wps in the aquastop hose seems to be stopping the water reaching the machine, if this is activated can it reset itself.

i did notice this paragraph in the manual

(If you intend to unscrew the Miele Waterproof system hose from the stopcock it is essential to disconnect the machine from the electricity supply first.)

could this have fatally damaged the hose

any response would be much appreciated

Hi. An aquastop hose is usually activated if the hose inside it bursts and if so it will need replacing. If it's just a separate hose you can use any hose but if it's got wiring in it that connects to the water valve then it's more complex than a normal aquastop hose.

Thanks for your reply Andy,

This one definitely has an electric wire in the outer tube and I can't imagine that the outer area is a vacuum so the presenece of a tear might not be a problem. If the electric wire can "sense" water and causes a solenoid to close then I might be ok. I'll try test my theory out. Appreciate your help. Martin

Hi. If by damaged you mean there's a hole in it somewhere then it would possibly no longer work as an aqua stop hose but would technically be able to let water through as long as the internal part of the hose carrying the water is ok.

I've never taken one of these aqua stop hoses apart to find out exactly how they work. But they must have systems in place that detect if water has leaked out of the inner hose and got into the outer hose. With aqua stop hoses that don't have electrical connections I'm not sure how that actually works. It may rely on the water pressure activating something that stops water passing through the main valve.

With aqua stop hoses that have electrical connections it would be easier to detect the presence of water inside the outer hose and shut off the power to the water valve itself inside the washing machine. So I presume that the electrical wires go to water valves or possibly somewhere else that is in the water valve circuit.

Thanks for your reply Andy,

There is an electrical connection but I was wondering if the external part of the hose is damaged, should it still work? Does the stop function only trigger if water is detected in the external hose where the electrical wire runs?

Hello Martin. If an aqua stop hose doesn't have any wires going into the washing machine then it is just an autonomous Aqua-stop hose and can be replaced by any washing machine fill hose. If it has wires leading from it into the washing machine then obviously it would need a proper hose fitting.

As far as I'm aware no parts for any aqua stop hose are available and they only come as a complete hose. Check out my article here for further information Washing machine aqua stop hoses

Hi Andy, two questions,

The external hose sheath is damaged on my Miele Aquastop. Will it work anyway or can I replace just the sheath?

Can I replace the aquastop with a stainless steel inlet hose? (Does the Miele need an electrical signal).

Thanks Martin
