Hotpoint Aquarius wd aqd1170d 697e won't finish the cycle
Hi, I have a Hotpoint Aquarius AQD1170D697E washer dryer.
When put on a wash cycle the machine gets to 3 minutes then resets back to 49 minutes. I then check to see if the conditioner has been flushed through and it hasn't. 49 minutes is the amount of time it takes to complete a Rinse and Spin cycle.
When I put the machine on a Rinse and Spin cycle, the machine will flush the conditioner through and finish this cycle.
Is this the main board (P.C.B)?
Thanks in advance!
Solution Summary
AI-generated from this discussion
This thread was marked as solved. Here's a summary of the problem and the fix, generated from the discussion below.
Hotpoint AQD1170D697E resets wash cycle near the end but completes rinse and spin
- The problem
- On wash programmes, the Hotpoint Aquarius AQD1170D697E ran down to 3 minutes remaining then reset to 49 minutes instead of finishing. Fabric conditioner was not flushed through on the failed wash cycle. A separate Rinse and Spin programme completed normally and did flush the conditioner.
- Likely cause
- The accepted reply said the main PCB was not necessarily at fault and that the heating element was a likely suspect. However, the original poster then reported the heater measured about 30 ohms and open circuit to earth, so the thread does not confirm a failed heater. The exact cause was not confirmed.
- What fixed it
- No completed repair was documented. The strongest supported diagnosis in the discussion was to investigate the heating circuit rather than assume a main PCB fault, but the exact repair was not confirmed.
- Checks to try
- Wash cycle reset from 3 minutes back to 49 minutes
- Conditioner not flushed through on wash cycle
- Rinse and Spin completed normally and flushed conditioner
- Heater resistance measured at 30 ohms
- Resistance from heater to earth reported as open circuit
Safety: Further diagnosis should be carried out by a suitably qualified appliance engineer.

Not necessarily, quite possibly not. One suspect is the heating element. Advice on testing g one can be found here - Not heating

Hi! Thanks for the heads up!
I have measured the resistance of the water heater coil, it measured 30 ohms. I also checked the resistance to earth and it was open circuit.
So could you shine some light on this one please?
Cheers!
