Star washers for the heating element
All, (I'm hoping this isn't a repair question) I think 'something' has got between the Drums & I want to take the element out to have a look, does anyone have a source for the 'starlock' retaining clips? from experience no matter how careful you are one of them can get damaged & I'd like a couple to hand before I start! Cheers Jim.

Hi. Are they what hold the drum together? Many drums are designed to not be split apart. If it is they should use screws? This article may help to get something out without taking the drum apart Remove something stuck inside drum

That sounds like a rubbish method they use. Have you tried looking on spare parts sites to see if they sell them? They may not sell them separately. My article gives suggestions of alternative ways of getting things out without removing the heater. If worst comes to worst and you have to you can always just fit a new heating element.

thanks Andy, the heating element isn't bolted in it has two 'spring' clips that go over the ends of the element and squeeze the gasket, if you're replacing the element it's fine as they come with new ones, I just want to look between the drums. may take the bottom hose off instead, so wondered if the clips can be bought separately, thanks again for answering.
