Advice On Quietest Washing Machine
My washing machine is currently upstairs (no room in kitchen downstairs). The whole house shakes when it is on the spin cycle (I've tried those anti-vibration things but they don't seem to work) and I'm always really worried it will leak into the room downstairs. I've got to buy a new washing machine so what would you recommend as the best bet in terms of quietness and least flood risk? is there anything else I chould do to reduce the shaking and risk of flooding?
quietest

Advice sought on quiet, low-risk upstairs washing machine
- The problem
- The poster needed to replace an upstairs washing machine because the house shook badly on spin, anti-vibration products had not helped, and they were worried about leaks affecting the room below. They asked for the quietest option and the lowest flood risk.
- Likely cause
- No specific fault with the existing machine was diagnosed in the discussion. The accepted reply focused on machine choice rather than confirming why the current appliance shook excessively.
- What fixed it
- The accepted recommendation was Miele, mainly for stability, lower noise and leak-protection features. The reply said Miele machines are very heavy, which was presented as helping stability, but also noted they may need two strong people to move upstairs. Features specifically mentioned were Water Control System, Waterproof System, Silent Professional Motor and improved sound insulation ratings on some models.
- Checks to try
- Anti-vibration products had already been tried and were said not to work.

Without a doubt it's Miele ( Washerhelp's Miele overview ). That's the easy part, the more difficult part is whether you are prepared to or even able to invest in one. The second concern is that they are very heavy (very well-built and stable = very heavy). You'd need 2 strong men to take it upstairs.
The features that some Miele washing machines have that you would be interested in are as follows -
Water Control System: A float switch detects leaks and can trigger the water inlet to close
Waterproof System: A double safety valve can switch off the water supply within seconds of a leak occurring
Silent Professional Motor: Usually found on our Commercial machines, this motor is even quieter than our standard
Sound insulation level: The level of sound insulation is improved according to the spin speed, 5 being the best
