MIELE W3365 WPS - No drum movement, Rinse light flashing soon after cycle start

Hi guys,

Thanks for any suggestions.

If I run a program, the drum fills with water until the Rinse lights starts to blink. It then continues, stops blinking…. Various noises in the upper left.. then after about a minute from the start of the program – the machine then successfully empties the drum of water while displaying the “- - -” message in the display. The Rinse lights continues to blink.

The pump is clearly working correctly

There is nothing stuck to the pump itself to slow it down

The filter is clean

Water into the drum is working

Soap dispenser is clean

Water into the soap dispenser is working

Water pump / evacuation is good

The sump tube is good and no blockage

There is no water in the bottom tray apart from the normal amount when I remove the filter plug.

I have now removed the front cover of the machine and there is no water in the lower tray where the water sensor is – all is dry.

At no point does the drum turn

All cables visible from the top seem ok – nothing broken

If I run the Wool (cold wash), it seems to count down from 39 minutes – but the drum never turns – nothing happens except the timer counts down.

On other warm washes it normally takes about 2 or 3 minutes before the rinse light comes on, the pump starts to drain the drum and the display shows “- - -” and the unit stops

What else could be triggering the error?

I read somewhere that it could be a loose cable to the drum but I cannot see anything from the top – the drum never moves.

Thanks in advance – it is an old unit but very good. The cost for a local technician is very high so I prefer to repair this myself while impressing the wife.

Hi. This is an old topic which didn't get a response because it was posted in the wrong forum. I just found it in the consumer forum and moved it here. I'm pretty sure the fault has been fixed by now or you got a replacement but just in case it helps others with the same symptoms can you give us an update?

The first question I would have asked is does the motor turn on a spin only cycle? And if not I would check the motor first for worn carbon brushes (if fitted).
