Bosch lock stuck

I have a pretty new Bosch vario perfect, series 6, machine. Today someone had activated the child lock, which didn’t about. I used the emergency open thingy , near the needle filter.

since this didn’t really solve the problem, I poked in the locking mechanism with a screwdriver, which made the black latch snap down.

the child lock is now disabled, but I can’t shut the door. I can’t find a way to reset the lock and I am afraid to damage it with too much force.

I don’t think the lock is damaged yet, it just needs to snap back.

please help

Solution Summary

AI-generated from this discussion

This thread was marked as solved. Here's a summary of the problem and the fix, generated from the discussion below.

Bosch Series 6 door would not shut after manual release of lock

The problem
A Bosch VarioPerfect Series 6 washing machine door lock was manually released after the child lock was activated. After using the emergency opening method and then pushing inside the locking mechanism with a screwdriver, the black latch snapped down and the door would no longer close.
Likely cause
The door lock latch had been left in the engaged position after the manual opening attempt. The discussion suggests the lock itself was not necessarily faulty unless the latch could not be reset.
What fixed it
The accepted advice was to push or pull the black latch back out of the way so the door catch could enter normally. The original poster confirmed success by getting a piece of wire behind the latch and pulling it back out, after which the machine worked normally.
Checks to try
  • Child lock had been activated
  • Emergency opening near the filter was used
  • The black latch in the door lock had snapped down
  • The door would not close until the latch was pulled back out
Parts or tools mentioned
  • screwdriver
  • piece of wire

Hi Johan. The only thing you can try is to push the black latch back. When you close the door, the latch springs down and captures the door latch holding the door securely closed.

When you open the door, usually by pulling a handle on the door, this action pushes the black latch back out of the way. As you can’t close the door, you would need to look at what happens to the door catch when you pull the handle and try to emulate that action with the screwdriver.

If you can’t get it out of the way you’d need a new door lock.
