Hi all. I just did a wash on a 40 and towards the end my drum started screeching and spinning very slowly. When the wash finished all I could smell was burnt rubber?! Any suggestions

Wow, that noise went right through me

Is the drum catching on the back of the door seal? Carefully check the drum for damage, and lift it towards you and up. Does it move up and down? If so, the drum spider may have cracked or the drum bearing collapsed. If not, turn the drum all the way around a full revolution whilst lifting and pulling towards you to see if there is movement, maybe just at one spot. That would indicate a cracked or broken drum spider (there are 3).

If you can't detect anything, you'd need to take off the drum belt and then turn the drum to see if the noise is definitely coming from the drum, and not the motor.
