LG DD loud when spinning
Hi people,
Had my LG washing machine for a while and has run smoothly until the last few weeks where it is very loud on spin, like very loud. It’s like a grinding noise.
Any ideas / help on sorting the issue out?
Short clip os attached
Thanks in advance

This thread was marked as solved. Here's a summary of the problem and the fix, generated from the discussion below.
LG direct drive washing machine very loud with grinding noise on spin
- The problem
- An LG direct drive washing machine, about 8 years old, had recently become very loud on spin with a grinding-type noise. No fault code was mentioned.
- Likely cause
- The strongest suggestion in the discussion was worn drum bearings. This was based on the reported grinding noise during spin and the advice to check for play by lifting the top lip of the drum. This remained a diagnosis only and was not confirmed by a completed repair.
- What fixed it
- Recommended checks were to disconnect the machine from the mains, remove the back panel, inspect for anything loose, and spin the drum by hand. A further check suggested was to open the door and push the top lip of the drum up and down to see whether there was any movement. If nothing obvious was found, the advice was that an engineer would need to observe the machine in spin to locate the source of the noise. No completed repair was confirmed by the original poster.
- Checks to try
- Disconnect the washing machine from the mains
- Take off the back panel and look for anything loose
- Spin the drum by hand
- Open the door and push up and down on the top lip of the drum to check for movement/play
Safety: Further diagnosis should be carried out by a suitably qualified appliance engineer.

Hello Sar. Unfortunately your video didn't work. I tried to re-upload it but I got a message saying it could not play and could be corrupt. Would you be able to upload it again please?
Meanwhile, can you also tell me is it a direct drive model, with no drive belt or separate motor?

Hi Andy,
it’s a Direct Drive, bought about 8 years ago. I’ve re-attached the video, hopefully you can see it this time.
Thanks

Hmm. No it still won't play. Never see this issue before. I get the error message -

Regarding noise, if it is a direct drive could be something to do with that. The only thing you can do really is to disconnect the washing machine from the mains, pull it out, take off the back panel, and have a look round to see if you can see or identify anything that may be loose. Try spinning the drum by hand.
If you can't find anything then an engineer would plug the washing machine in, put it on spin and carefully observe and listen to try and identify where the noise is coming from.

It works ok on my mobile phone though.

Sounds like could be bearings on the drum wearing out @SAR. - try opening door of washing machine and push up and down the top lip of the drum, there should be no movement / play there
Thanks Andy - I'll take a look and see what I can find.
