Disappointed with our LG Turbowash™ FWV686STE
We got our new washer in June LG Turbowash™ FWV686STE and I must say I’ve been disappointed since.
First of all despite perfect levelling and it vibrates like crazy on spin. I can literally hear it upstairs. It doesn’t happen with all the loads though so I don’t know what’s the problem.
There seem to be hardly any water in the drum when it washes, clothes don’t have any residue luckily.
Last thing is that our washed washing never really smell for long. It does have a nice smell when I open the door but once it dries, the smell goes away. There’s no any smell at all. We’ve used several detergents and it’s the same with all of them.
I’ve been really thinking about changing it but then I was told that all new washers are the same. Is it true?
I was so tempted to get a Miele but they’re deeper so would stick out and they only do white which wouldn’t go in our kitchen.
Then few months after we bought our LG, Bosch released a new model that would go perfectly in our kitchen Series 6 WGG2449RGB. Wish I waited now as I heard a lot of good about Bosch

Hello there. Yes that doesn't sound quite right. It sounds like something is knocking or tapping metal to metal. I see there is a sticker on there with a 10 year warranty, it might be worth getting them out to it under warranty, or at least sending them the video to see what they think.
Regarding the smell, if a washing machine rinses properly and arguably the laundry should only smell clean. But these days there is a fad for having them smell of artificial smells created by the detergent companies and the fabric softener. Do you use fabric softener? These days they usually are designed to leave a particular fragrance.
These days also washing machines use as little water as possible. It's been the case for some time now that you don't see much water bouncing around during the wash cycle in particular. I remember the days when the water came up over the lip of the door seal by a good half an inch or so on wash, and on rinse cycles the water level rose halfway up the glass.
The massive reduction in water usage probably accounts for why modern washing machines don't rinse laundry as well as they used to, though unless you have irritation problems it doesn't tend to cause any issues for most people.
Regarding the quality of the wash though, the reduction in water shouldn't really affect that. As long as you are using the right wash cycle for the laundry (on the wash label), and using good quality detergent and the correct amount for the level of soiling and the hardness of water.

I’ve already contacted LG, engineer has been and basically said it’s tapping on the pipe behind. We’ve put a bracket that holds pipe in place, the noise is still there.
It doesn’t happen on every wash but it does happen.
It does seem to clean well although I’ve noticed that clothes damage fairly quickly, socks and boxers are boobling.
I purchased wash bags last week so hopefully it’ll make a difference as I was just shoving them inside the drum.
I’ve got another complaint though, contacted LG about it.
Towels come out badly smelling of burnt rubber, it lingers and it’s just absolutely horrible.
My partner told me not to get a washer dryer but I as always thought I knew better.
Speaking about detergent.
I find it extremely confusing how much to use, especially with powders. I mean surely they don’t expect us to weigh laundry. So in my case it’s just a guessing game.
I use Persil Liquid or powder for whites.

If the washing machine is tapping on the pipe behind, it really needs pulling forward so that it doesn't. Obviously you'd prefer it to be pushed back as far as possible, but it's not just the noise to consider. Could the constant knocking on this pipe cause it damage and wear?
Regarding the wash bags, that's a good idea for delicate items. However, make sure you double check the wash label instructions on these items. Many of them have restrictive istructions such as only wash on gentle wash cycles and many of them say to wash inside out. These instructions often prevent damage. Especially the wash inside out one.
I personally think washer dryers are rubbish. They are more susceptable for example to laundry catching on the door seal at the top where there is the dryer vent. This is where hot air is pumped into the drum. You have to be extra careful not to overload a washer dryer.
