Why Is The Miele W 4144 Cheaper Than The W 3740?
Does anybody know why this is so, as the W 4144 seems to be quieter, as well as having superior features. The only thing that makes me hesitate to buy it is that it is cheaper than the W 3740, suggesting that there are some drawbacks.
Be grateful for any advice on this. Plenty of people seem to rate the W 3740 highly.

The classic look models (which includes the W 3740) tend to be a bit more expensive. I believe the modern look models are cheaper to produce (by design) with little or negligable impact on quality. The W 4144 WPS is definitely better specified in some areas. For a start it has a silent professional motor and extra noise insulation.
This model is a slower seller because the unusual positioning of its the control panel makes it unsuitable for many kitchens where it fits under a worktop. If it's a slow mover, prices could be lowered. However, you often get the opposite effect in that the more popular models have lower prices because they can shift them in bigger quantities.
I will try to get an answer from Miele as with the extra features you would normally expect it to cost at least £100 more.

Many thanks for your help on this. Your reply seems to support my decision to go for the one with more features. I may have a look at it first just to see what it looks like, but I can't imagine it's too bulky to make much difference.
