Washing machine grinding sound before drum spins- is it definitely the bearings??
I've got a Beko washer dryer and it makes a grinding sound when I switch it on.
Thing is, it seems to happen before the drum spins, and it doesn't seem to happen on every setting I use.
I've had a chat with a couple of washing machine service people and both have said that if it's the bearings it's better to just get a new machine.
Does this sound like it's worth getting looked at at least?
Thanks for any help!

Hi. Not sure how it can it be bearings if the drum isn’t even turning when it makes the noise. It’s easy to tell if it is bearings. Just spin the drum by hand. If it rumbles bad either motor or drum bearings could be worn.
Does it just make the noise briefly then stop? That’d be the pump. Check for obstructions in filter and pump.

Yep, that is usually the pump something Beko are famed for. Usually when the pump makes a strange gringing noise the impellor has fallen of the pump shaft or is at at a strange angle. Just replace the pump. Note there are several pumps and 2 that look identical but are not: 1 has an emergency thin drain hose fitted and t`other one doesn`t if you buy the wrong one you can get flooded out - so not a plus by any means! So order on the full model number and even then double check before fitting
