Keeping Machine In Unheated Shed ?

Iv'e got an old stylee non digital machine in an unheated shed, will the winter freeze damage the pumps, hoses ect ?

It is always un coupled from the water supply anyway, it only runs on cold water.

I would say yes, once the temperature starts to get really cold it could freeze the pipes, even the water inside the fill valves. I would say it's a bad place for a washing machine. If you disconnect from the cold water supply it will help, before doing so though use the following procedure to try and remove as much watewr from the valves, the hose and pump -

Turn off the water supply tap

Put the machine on a wash programme and turn it on

When the washer tries to fill you should hear a small gush of water go in followed by a gentle humming noise as the valve is still running but no water is going in.

After several seconds stop the machine and put it onto spin to drain water out and turn off when no more comes out.

There should be little or no water now inside the fill hose or the valve
