hi , i have a candy washer/dryer as soon as i press start it trips electric , ive narrowed it down to the motor . the brushes look ok ,but if i disconnect just the brushes it all works ,and trips as soon as reconnected.

is it brushes causing a spike to trip elec,ie: would a replacement set do the same ,or is it a more serious prob with motor?

any suggestions greatly recieved

Washing machine is fusing, or tripping the electrics This fault can't be diagnosed without an insulation test meter. The chances are the armature or field coil are "down to earth" and have an electrical path to earth. It's possible for a build up of carbon dust to cause it so you could always try blasting it with one of those air duster cans designed for cleaning computers on the off chance of dislodging it but these days they are designed in ways that make it more rare for carbon dust to build up inside.
