Candy Gofs262/1/80 Wont Spin But Washes Fine
Hello,
Nice Forum, btw. I have read your advice for machines that wont spin but, alas, mine still wont Spin
I have a 18 month old Candy GOFS262/1-80 and as the topic says, it wont spin at all. The machine washes fine, but when it is meant to spin it empties the water ok, does half a dozen slow turns, stops, does the same again and then the finish lights come on and 2 mins later the door light goes off and it opens fine.
If I put the machine on just to spin, it does the same as above. I've checked the filter and all the obvious stuff but no joy.
Candy want £120 to repair, flat charge, but as the machine is only 18 months old and I am an engineer by trade I'd like to fix it myself and take my wife out for a nice dinner with the money!
Any ideas?
Kindest regards
Mac

Thanks Mac. Does it do this on every load, and even without laundry in? Washing machines won't spin any load that it can't balance. However, if it does it with every load or even without any load then clearly a fault is preventing it spinning. Unfortunately this type of fault isn't something you can repair yourself if none of the suggestions in my troubleshooting guide work. All you could do is guess at a part and try replacing it but that can prove very costly if it doesn't fix the fault. .

Thanks for the feedback. I wouldn't have thought it would be something like that, but maybe if the washer is sufficiently un-level it could cause the out of balance sensors to think the load is out of balance.
Need Professional Help or Spare Parts?
Hi Andy,
Got it working! No parts required either. This is what I did (after following and trying all the advice in these forums):
Put it on a spin cycle and held the machine on a tilt, (tipping it backwards) for 5 mins, it seemed to do a bit more of the spin cycle, then I turned it off. Then I remembered reading that some new machines have problems if there not totally level. Our floor has a step where the floor tiles dont go all the way to the back wall. Leveled the machine in situ and volia, it's spinning like a spinning thing. Maybe a sensor was just reading the machine as not empty of water?
Thats what I think it was, hope this helps someone out in the future and thanks for your quick reply too.
Kind regards
Mac
