Hotpoint Ultima Washing Machine No Water

Hi all

I have a Hotpoint WMD940K is telling me I have no water supply. I have checked the hoses, filters and the water pressure and these are all fine. The water inlet valve contacts are reading 3.6 kohms, which I believe is correct. The pressure valve is also functioning correctly.

I am now stuck and can't think of anything else to try. This is my first attempt at such problems so I am convinced I have missed something. Any advice would be much appreciated as it has me stumped!

Thanks DVan10

Solution Summary

AI-generated from this discussion

This thread was marked as solved. Here's a summary of the problem and the fix, generated from the discussion below.

Hotpoint WMD940K reports no water supply but basic inlet checks were satisfactory

The problem
A Hotpoint WMD940K washing machine was indicating no water supply and would not fill. The owner had already checked the inlet hoses, filters and household water pressure and reported these were fine.
Likely cause
The exact cause was not identified from the discussion. The inlet valve coil resistance was reported as 3.6 kOhms and believed to be correct, and the pressure valve was said to be functioning correctly, so the fault remained undiagnosed.
What fixed it
No repair was documented. The accepted advice was that, given the checks already completed and the lack of an obvious cause, the machine should be examined by an engineer. Further diagnosis should be carried out by a suitably qualified appliance engineer.
Checks to try
  • Checked inlet hoses
  • Checked filters
  • Checked water pressure
  • Measured water inlet valve contacts at 3.6 kOhms
  • Checked pressure valve operation

Safety: Further diagnosis should be carried out by a suitably qualified appliance engineer.

I have all the main advice I could think of on Washerhelp - Washing machine won't fill with water (or no water goes into washing machine). I would say you need an engineer combined with what you've already tried you still can't fathom it.
