Solution Summary
AI-generated from this discussion
This thread was marked as solved. Here's a summary of the problem and the fix, generated from the discussion below.
Hotpoint Aqualtis stops part way through the cycle with no fault code
- The problem
- A Hotpoint Aqualtis washing machine stops mid-cycle, can be restarted, then runs for a while and stops again. No fault code was reported.
- Likely cause
- Most strongly supported diagnosis is a fault that does not generate an error code, particularly an open-circuit motor, sometimes due to worn carbon brushes, or an open-circuit heater during the wash. The exact failed part was not confirmed.
- What fixed it
- The accepted advice was to check the motor carbon brushes if the user is able to do so. If not, or if the fault is not obvious, further diagnosis by an engineer was recommended. No completed repair was confirmed in the discussion.
- Checks to try
- Observed that the machine stops mid-cycle and can be restarted
- No fault code was visible
- Suggested check of the motor carbon brushes
- Parts or tools mentioned
- carbon brushes
Safety: Further diagnosis should be carried out by a suitably qualified appliance engineer.

There are some faults that won't generate an error code such as an open circuit motor (sometimes worn carbon brushes) or if the heater goes open circuit during wash.
If you are able to check the carbon brushes it may be worth a try but otherwise I'd get an engineer in.
