Hello this is my first post and I hope you can help. My Siemens washer/dryers only washes cold for every programme. The washer dryer still works correctly. I assume since the dryer works that it means the heating element is still working? Does this washer/dryer display error codes anywhere? Is there anything I can check?

I tried using the machine today and notice that there is a problem with the timer - for example if I open the machine to add more washing and there is 60 minutes left on the clock, when I re-start the machine it seems to add more time to the clock. Not sure if my children have done something by pressing the buttons. First I would like to know if there is a way to reset the timer? Also is there childprooof button on this machine - I cant find any mention in the manual?

thanks

A washer dryer has separate heaters for wash and tumble dry. Generally speaking if the heater isn't working it should produce an error code as described in my article heater not working? but as mentioned at the bottom of the article there are some exceptions and anomalies. There's one example of a Bosch, which had a loose connection on the NTC (thermostat) which caused this fault and Bosch are made by the same manufacturer as Siemens so it's possible it could account for your fault.

If there's no mention of a child lock in the manual it's unlikely to have one.

I have a full article with related links here - Appliance error codes - what you need to know

The washer should reset the error code when the fault which caused it is fixed. The NTC is usually near to the heater or inserted inside a tube in the heater. It should have 2 wires to it. Heaters on some washing machines are at the back and easy to get to, while on others they are at the front and a lot harder to get to.

Hello Andy thanks for responding. If an error message is produced should I see it on the front of the machine? Also where is the NTC? Is there any way I can reset the machine back to the factory settings?
