This thread was marked as solved. Here's a summary of the problem and the fix, generated from the discussion below.
Bush A146Q will not start and start/end lights flash together after door lock replacement
- The problem
- After replacing a broken internal door lock on a Bush A146Q washing machine, selecting any programme and pressing Start caused the Program Start and Program End lights to flash together and the machine would not run.
- Likely cause
- The flashing initially suggested the machine was not recognising the door as closed, but swap-testing indicated the replacement interlock, door catch and door itself were probably not the cause. The exact fault was not confirmed.
- What fixed it
- Recommended checks were to confirm the interlock was fitted correctly, wired correctly, and that the door catch was latching properly into the interlock. The original poster then rechecked wiring and connections and swap-tested the internal lock with the same model from another machine. No confirmed repair was documented.
- Checks to try
- Compared behaviour with the door open
- Checked connections and wiring to the door interlock
- Checked filters, water pump and hoses
- Verified door was closing properly and catch was latching
- Tried a known working internal lock from the same make and model
- Tested the original lock on the other machine, where it worked
- Parts or tools mentioned
- Internal door lock
Safety: Further diagnosis should be carried out by a suitably qualified appliance engineer.

Does it do the exact same if you try to run it with the door open? Sounds like maybe it can't detect the door is closed for some reason.

Thanks for the reply Andy
Yes it does the same . I've check filters water pump bushes ect . It's got me well puzzled because I've touched nothing I didn't take the top off to change the internal door lock .
What I'm getting at is if it does the same when the door is open maybe when the door is closed it isn't triggering the door interlock so the machine won't start because it thinks the door is still open. If it was OK before you changed the door interlock it has to be the main suspect. Check the interlock is on properly, wired correctly and that the door is closing properly and door catch latching into the interlock.

I'll recheck the lock and that . Cheers Andy
Ok after reading your replay I check the connection and the wires and all seem good, so I decided to ask my friend who has the same make and model as my washing machine if I could pinch his internal lock as his machine is working as you could guess he laughed but let me use it and I still get the same flashing lights . So I put my internal lock on to his machine and it worked fine . So I decided to take off the internal lock and try a program on my machine ( I know this sounds a bit bad ) but my washer told me that the door wasn't closed properly and I didn't get the program start and program finish lights blinking as before now I'm really confused .
That's a good friend Your logic is good, at least it shows the door interlock, the door, or its catch are not at fault, which has advanced things on. It's all about process of elimination. Unfortunately Bush is a none-make of washing machine which means they don't actually make them, they get someone else to make them and put the Bush name on. As such I have no technical information for them. It could be anything.
