Quick Wash Programs On Hotpoint Wmud843P

Thanks for the reply Andy - yeah its a strange one because they are both quick washes - the quickwash 60c would be even quicker if it rotated as it was filling up instead of filling, stop filling start rotating, then filling and stop rotating, yeah if it stopped all this mucking about stopping and starting as its fillin the drum with water the quick wash would be even quicker lol. -

I tell you something else which adds time when you first put it onto quick wash, the pump empties the drum first (fair enough i suppose its getting rid of the water in the sump hose) but then it waits for what seems like an age for the water to start going in and filling up the drum, you think its not even gonna start filling it does nothing, no rotate - just sits there for a dead amout of time, you think its broke but it isnt its just like 'thinking' what its got to do next sort of "er what is it I am suppose to do? ... ah yes thats right fill up the drum with water and start washing thats it!" - haha. am sure its not a fault its done this since new, I think its just the way they have programmed the chip for the fastwash, i have no idea for the wait, someone suggested that it takes in a bit of water, sees how dirty the clothes are and adjust the programme for the wash and the level of water but it cant be that because this is the order it goes: put in washing to machine, select programme (quickwash 40c say) pumps growls (no drum rotation) and empties - machine waits for what seems like ages no doing anything (but its most probably a minute) - then comes to life and starts filling and taking in powder, stops taking in water rotates, stops rotating and takes in water, stops taking in water and rotates - why all this mucking about, like most machines i have had it should be taking in water and soap powder and rotating all at the same time to save time, well thats the way I would have made it/programmed it to do. Ah well such is life :-)

"Quick Wash" and "Fast Wash 60" are 2 different cycles on Hotpoint machines. The quick wash is only designed to wash half the drum capacity, whereas the fast wash 60 can take more.

I imagine that the static fill on the fast wash 60 would allow the machine to take in more water for the larger load, whereas the tumble-fill on the quick wash would be better for saturating the smaller load quicker.

Thanks, you could be right and I could be wrong here , but im almost sure if i remember correctly that last time i looked at the instruction booklet for this machine it said 3kg maximum for both quick wash and fast wash

That is very unusual in that case. As Andy said, possibly because the quick wash is quicker than the fast wash 60, it does this to cut the time down? At least it's not affecting performance.
