Need To Slam The Door ?

Hello

I stay well away from domestics and as the Bosch Avantixx 7, now 3 years old, is in the utility room I hadn't seen my wife operating it until recently.

She closed the door by what seemed to me a hefty brutal slam ! "That cant be right" said I. But the reply was "Its always been like that from new". It has held together but I cant say I like it. I had a look but there seems no obvious adjustment to make it easier.

Should it be like this?

thanks B Wash

Miele washing machine doors are designed to be "slammed" it advised how to in the instruction book. They have tough metal doors hinges and catches though. I've not heard of any other washer designed to slam like that though. It could be that it needs pushing in firmly and she finds it easier to gain the required force with a slam. I can see your concern if the door is just plastic and it's not a high end built machine. I'd check to see if it says anything in the instruction manual. Can you shut the door ok without slamming it? WD40 on the door mechanism and catch?

Thanks Jet

I tried that and I simply could not hold it back and get a strong enough push. Also the machine is on rollers (a recent addition) and it move back.

I did try lubricating the tab, as suggested, with white Lithium grease, it still needs a slam but not so hard. My wife needs to try it now and see if she thinks its better.

There is nothing in the instruction manual she tells me about how to close the door.

You could always try pulling the door release catch as you close the door, so that the catch is in the "open" position, and then letting go once it's inplace? It would certainly save on slamming the door.

I probably made that sound more complicated than it need to be, but you get the idea.

I tried it and couldn't do it with a strong push. I was then given a slam demo and was pretty horrified at how aggressive it looked. But its survived 3 years.

I will have a look at the instruction manual and try lubricant.

thanks
