Hi,

I washed a new pair of swim shorts that had a lace in the waistband and now the lace has got caught in the hole of the drum. I have an aeg lavamat l74800. Is there a way of getting it out without damage to the lace and the machine? Thanks for any help given.

AI-generated from this discussion

This thread was marked as solved. Here's a summary of the problem and the fix, generated from the discussion below.

AEG Lavamat L74800 lace caught in drum hole

The problem
A lace from a pair of swim shorts became trapped in a hole in the drum of an AEG Lavamat L74800 washing machine. The user wanted to remove it without damaging either the lace or the machine.
Likely cause
The lace is likely caught on a component beneath the drum rather than just passing through a drum perforation.
What fixed it
The accepted reply said it may not be possible to remove the lace intact unless the machine is stripped down fully, and that pulling on it could leave part of the lace stuck inside. No confirmed repair steps or successful removal were documented in the discussion.
Checks to try
  • Lace visibly caught in a drum hole
  • Possibility raised that the lace is snagged on something under the drum

Safety: Further diagnosis should be carried out by a suitably qualified appliance engineer.

If it's caught on something under the drum it might not be possible to get it out unscathed unless you stripped down the entire machine and it'd probably already be damaged anyway. You may pull it out and the rest of it might stay stuck inside the drum.

I have an article on how to get something out which is stuck in the drum
