Wm63 - Stops After 15 Mins Approx

Hi again,

Not so long ago I bought some new carbon brushes which when fitted breathed life into my old girl again. Having then laid down the gaundlet to another forum moderator edd to bring it on and see who's WM63 last the longest, it seems I may have done the equivalent of a Murray Walker comment and jinxed the poor WM.

Put a load in today on E cycle as normal, set it away as normal, only to then potter about doing some recycling. After 15 mins or so, I come in put the kettle on and wonder why the WM is so quiet. Nothing is working. Door locked dash isn't lit up as it should be once working, so turn the WM off at the on off button, check fuse in kitchen which is ok, check nothing has tripped in garage which is hasn't. Can open the door and clothes are all hotish as expected given the temperature setting on E cycle (could it be the TOC after reading the FAQ's?) and shut the door, switch the WM back on but no click to say door interlock has worked, turn control knob to various other programs to see if can get any life and zilch. So no spin function, no rinse phase, no nothing, drum can be spun manually but has resistance when doing so if that helps.

Any thoughts please. Has the electronics board gone? or maybe the motor (but if the motor had gone surely the door would still be locked?).

As always thanks in advance.

Regards

Neil

It sounds like the washing machine just died during the wash. Therefore as its is completely dead but no fuse is gone there is some catastrophic lack of power somewhere. The door interlock could have failed but it could be so many other things too. The first thing I would check is the wall socket, always rule out the simple and obvious first. I would troubleshoot this as a dead washing machine using my guide here washing machine won't start

Ive never known a door lock to blow and keep the door locked. The default position is unlock. Have you checked no wires have fallen off the switch? Try closing the door a bit harder and have your eyes on the power light (obviously program selected and power switch on).
