Knocking/tapping Noise When Fast But Not Always On Spin?

Hi,

Please could I have some advice as to whether this is something we can investigate ourselves? I have read all your pages on noisy machines and the forum advice and it doesn't sound like it's a bearings problem.

The loud tapping/knocking sound happens when the machine builds up to speed and usually the noise maintains at this speed. This happens when the machine displays the wash cycle light and the rinse cycle light. The noise stops after a couple of minutes even when the spin is going slightly faster and doesn't happen at all when slowing. It doesn't happen at the start of the spin cycle either although does after 10 seconds of spinning.

It sounds quite metallic. I have emptied the filter (found a coin) and I have tried adjusting the machine slightly while the noise is happening. I have turned the drum by hand and cannot hear nor feel any resistance.

Any help would be most appreciated.

Kind regards

Katie

Also, a tapping knocking noise can be caused by a worn drum pulley as described in detail with videos here Rattling tapping and grinding noise on spin
