Tear In Rubber Skirt

hi all, i hope you are well.

did some major surgery on the washing machine today after some car carpet mats were in it, and bunged it up good and proper. filter out. back off. hoses inside the machine out, clean, jet wash....uuurgh, its been horrendous!

anyways, ive noticed that there is a tear in the rubber "skirt" that goes between the drum and the front door (see pic). it was probably there before the carpet mat debacle, but not sure. is it a big problem? the machine is now working fine so far

It looks like a tear that will leak water. As it is high up and closed (apart from when the drum sways about) it's not leaking seriously. However, it could be leaking water into the base which is going undetected if there is a base cover on the base of the machine. If you can poke your finger through the hole then it will inevitably be seeping some water and should really be replaced.

Some are tricky and some are fairly easy, some are extremely difficult - especially on a washer dryer.
