Hello All

I have an indesit W12X washer dryer that has developed a problem. When you start the washer running on program 7 temperature 40 degrees it will not progress onto the rinse cycle. I thought this maybe down to no heat so have checked the element.. This seems to be ok. I have dropped the meter on the two terminals above the element which I thought would be the thermostat and there is no circuit.

A m I correct in thinking there should be a circuit here and that it is indeed the thermostat

Thanks for any advice

It's probably a thermistor, which is a modern thermostat. They are usually open circuit at room temperature and full of crystals that change resistance at different temperatures. To test you may be able to remove it and place it carefully in hot water to see if you get a reading. The resistance should vary as it gets hotter, which is how the machine reads the temperature. Check for loose connections by gently pulling, some are known to develop bad connections inside.

Hello there thanks for your reply

Have changed the thermistor, symptoms remain the same. No sign of water getting hot. I am getting a resistance on meter for the element

Problem originally began with the controller dial rotating. This usually tells me pump is blocked which proved to be the case, but once it was cleared machine just kept going one way then the other and not progressing any further into the wash.

Have checked the small pipe fitted to bottom of drum for a blockage, no sign.

How much water should there be at this point. Clothing is wet but no immersed,is that correct
