Bosch Exxcel washer dryer WVD24520GB seems to have crashed

I've looked at your common faults document, as well as everything I can find online to answer this question.

I returned home to discover the wash/dry had stopped, it was stuck on about 58 minutes drying left. I turned to zero, waited for the door to unlock, and removed the laundry. I didn't think too much more of it.

I loaded the machine for another wash tonight, turned the knob - and it just shows the LCD timer bar, nothing else.

No buttons seem to do anything.

I've tried all the online solution suggestions I can find including turning to 1 o'clock and holding power, turning to 6 o'clock and holding timer, then to 7 o'clock and holding timer (doing this for all buttons in fact).

Nothing changes. I just still get the LCD timer bar. If I turn the knob back to zero, the display goes off. To any other position, the timer bar.

I've tried disconnecting the power for 5 minutes, and for 45 minutes. Still the same.

This isn't the childlock key problem.

I've attached a screenshot

Any ideas? Thanks!

Hello. My main suspect would be a problem with the software that runs the programs or within the control and/or display pcbs. If you've unplugged it that would seem to rule out a temporary crash. The display seems strong, but is not being told what to display so I can only advise you need an engineer. Please let us know if you find out what caused it.

LOndon2017, you say you managed to get the display to reset. Which method did you use to do that?

Thanks in advance

Thanks for the update. It’s a shame modern washing machines often exhibit ridiculous symptoms that don’t imply anything about the fault. Hotpoint and Indesit washing machines can cause the whole machine to go dead with an open circuit motor but I didn’t realise a Bosh could too.

Hi all - well, here's an update.

I managed to reset it and so got the display showing again.

But, it still wouldn't work.

So I called out Bosch, paid my £99 and engineer took and look and fixed it by replacing the brushes. Brushes cost £25, so all in £124.

So for me that solved the problem.

Hi there

I have the same problem with this. Did you manage to get it fixed and if so, how much did it cost?

Bosch quotes £99 for the call out plus the fix for parts, but did it need any parts or was it just a software issue that they resolved.

thanks.
