I’m not able to do a resistance test on a Bosch door interlock, is this because it contains a bi metallic coil?

Solution Summary

AI-generated from this discussion

This thread was marked as solved. Here's a summary of the problem and the fix, generated from the discussion below.

Bosch washer dryer door lock unlocks immediately

The problem
A Bosch washer dryer would lock the door and then unlock it straight away again. The poster could not obtain any resistance reading across any terminals of the door interlock when testing with a meter set to 200 Ohms.
Likely cause
The discussion most strongly supports a faulty door interlock/door lock. The accepted reply notes that, if it is a standard lock, there would normally be a resistance reading between live and neutral through the coil. The absence of any reading, together with the lock-then-immediate-unlock symptom, points to the lock as the likely fault.
What fixed it
Diagnosis in the thread points to replacing the door interlock/door lock, but the exact repair was not confirmed by the poster. No completed fix was documented.
Checks to try
  • Resistance test attempted on the Bosch door interlock
  • Meter confirmed working and set to 200 Ohms
  • No reading obtained between any lock terminals
  • Observed symptom: door locks then unlocks straight away
  • Relay clicking heard on the motor module board
Parts or tools mentioned
  • Door interlock/door lock
  • Multimeter

Safety: Further diagnosis should be carried out by a suitably qualified appliance engineer.

I’m not sure if it’s a standard traditional lock or not but if it is there would normally be a reading between live and neutral through a coil. Sometimes there is a diagram on the lock -Washing machine door lock information

Thanks Andy,

I cannot get a reading between any terminals, my meter is fine, testing at 200 Ohms. Apparently this is a common fault on this washer dryer, door locks but unlocks straight away again, I can also hear the relay clicking on the motor module board

Thanks

Ken
