no heat Bosch WVH28420EU, no heat.
Our washing machine stopped heating the water and heating the dry cycle. It does all the cycles, wash and dry but there's no heat at all.
I've bought new heater and thermometer, checked all the wires but still no heat. There is also no error code.
I've read the topic where the solution was loose cables, so triple checked that also.
What can it be?
Solution Summary
AI-generated from this discussion
This thread was marked as solved. Here's a summary of the problem and the fix, generated from the discussion below.
Bosch WVH28420EU washer-dryer heats but does not dry clothes
- The problem
- Bosch WVH28420EU was reported as having no heat in both wash and dry cycles. The owner replaced parts 0306 and 0307, described as heater and thermometer, and checked the wiring, but drying still failed. Further testing showed the wash water did get warm, and on a drying cycle the clothes came out warm but still wet.
- Likely cause
- The discussion indicates the original no-heat assumption was incorrect. Washing heat appears to be working, and the drying heater also appears to produce warmth. The strongest supported diagnosis is a drying-performance fault rather than total heater failure. The exact cause was not confirmed in the thread.
- What fixed it
- No confirmed repair was documented. The accepted reply clarified that wash and dry heating are separate systems, making simultaneous heater failure unlikely. The later advice was to follow guidance for a washer-dryer that leaves laundry hot or warm but still wet. Exact repair action was not confirmed.
- Checks to try
- Replaced parts 0306 and 0307
- Checked wiring/connectors
- Confirmed wash water gets warm during cleaning
- Ran dry cycle and found clothes warm but still wet
- Cleaned the pump/filter at the bottom right
- Parts or tools mentioned
- Part 0306
- Part 0307
Safety: Further diagnosis should be carried out by a suitably qualified appliance engineer.

A washer dryer has separate heating elements for washing and drying. It's highly unlikely they have both failed or for any fault to cause them both to stop working. They are totally separate systems. What makes you think there's no heat - does the wash or drying cycle stick or stop working, or are clothes coming out dirty? What are the symptoms that caused you to look at the machine?

Before when the dry-cycle was running I could feel the heat in the room. Now it's no heat and the wash doesn't get dry after the dry-cycle. I thought it was the same heater for both. Anyway I swapped parts 0306 and 0307.
Any idea?
I've checked now and the water gets warm during cleaning. So it's only the dry-heater that is not working. Any ideas?
The dryer's heating element should be on top of the outer drum.

Ok, after running dry cycle, the clothes get warm, so feels like the heater for the drying part works but the clothes don't get dry. After a drying cycle the clothes are wet but warm.
I've cleaned the pump at the bottom right of the washer.
Hello. On a washer dryer, if the laundry is coming out warm but still wet try this - Laundry comes out of washer dryer hot & steamy
