11 Year old Bosch washer, WAE24465gb/01replaced heating element several times over the years not using genuine part.

Machine appears to be washing everything at 90degrees, I washed some towels yesterday and they were too hot to get out of the machine at the end of the cycle.

I put the machine on a cold wash earlier and I could feel the heat in the water within a few minutes, I left the cycle for 10 minutes, switched the machine off and measured the temperature of the water in the drum once the door released and it was 79degrees Celsius.

Seems like the element is constantly switched to on as even after the rinse cycle/spin the clothes are boiling hot.

Could this be the thermostat?

Hello. If the washing machine overheats the water - even to 90 degrees the laundry should still be cold when it comes out of the washing machine. After the wash cycle it should fill up 3 or 4 times with cold water. The only way overheating should cause the laundry to come out hot is if the washing machine aborts the cycle at the end of the wash and heat cycle and therefore misses out the rinses. If that's what happens you should be able to observe that it misses out the rinse cycles and final spin and it should also bring up some sort of error code or flash certain lights to indicate one.

Laundry coming out of the washing machine hot is usually caused by a hot water supply accidentally being connected to the cold water valve. If this is definitely not the case for you then it's a strange fault. Even if the heater was somehow permanently on it should take a fairly long time to heat up the rinse water on rinses. If you are sure the washer couldn't be connected to the hot supply (eg it's never been disconnected or there is no hot supply) then try putting it on a rinse only cycle and see if it's heating up water.
