Level of washing machine

Hoping someone can help. We purchased a new machine and it’s now started knocking (metal to metal sound) when it starts to spin, only briefly then when the spin gets faster it’s fine. We have an engineer coming out to look at it but I am worried they will say it’s because it’s not level and the call out if not a manufacturing fault is £160. I have checked and checked and it’s as level as I can get it but my questing is how level does it have to be?

Yes I would double check that the washing machine is level from front to back as well as side to side. If the washing machine was leaning back, then combined with a heavy load it might be possible for the drive belt to catch on the back casing. In my opinion this would be a bad design. The parts are pretty crammed inside these days especially with larger drum capacity machines. Other than that are metal to metal sound should not be ignored. Please let us know what you find, or what the engineer finds if he still comes.
