Bosch washing machine.

I am trying to clear my Washing machine filter. But when taking off the stopper on the emergency hose no water draining out. How do I unblock this hose please?

I then had to unscrew the filter which then released loads of water all over the floor.

This thread was marked as solved. Here's a summary of the problem and the fix, generated from the discussion below.

Bosch washing machine emergency drain hose blocked while clearing filter

The problem
The user could not drain water from the emergency hose when trying to clean the filter on a Bosch washing machine. Unscrewing the filter instead released a large amount of water onto the floor.
Likely cause
The accepted reply says the pump filter was likely blocked, and the emergency draining hose also appeared to be blocked because no water came out of it.
What fixed it
Recommended action was to remove the pump filter fully. Because the machine still contained water and the emergency drain hose would not drain it, the advice was to use a safe method to empty the water from the machine first, then continue clearing the filter. The exact repair outcome was not confirmed in the discussion.
Checks to try
  • No water came out when the stopper was removed from the emergency hose
  • Unscrewing the filter released a large amount of water
  • Accepted reply identified the pump filter as likely blocked
Parts or tools mentioned
  • pump filter
  • emergency draining hose

Safety: Take care when removing a filter from a machine that is still full of water, as sudden water release can cause flooding. Further diagnosis should be carried out by a suitably qualified appliance engineer.
