Miele WT 2780 washer/dryer leaving black residue on sheets. Have thoroughly cleaned following guidance in user manual but still persists. Residue seems to be in aperture at top front of drum which is difficult to access. We no longer use the dryer and wonder whether this is hot air access point that has become clogged due to not using. If so - how best to clean. Any ideas?

Miele WT 2780 washer/dryer leaving black residue on laundry
- The problem
- A Miele WT 2780 washer/dryer was leaving black residue on sheets. The residue appeared to be coming from the aperture at the top front of the drum, which was difficult to access. The user had already cleaned the machine as described in the manual, but the problem remained.
- Likely cause
- The accepted reply said it could be gunk from inside the heating chamber, possibly associated with the dryer air path area near the drum aperture. This was suggested as a probable cause rather than a confirmed fault.
- What fixed it
- The accepted advice was to check for a cleaning cycle, try cleaning the aperture/heating chamber area with a small dishwasher brush or similar, and try running the washer-dryer cycle a few times. If the contamination was severe, the heating chamber top might need to be removed. The exact repair carried out was not confirmed.
- Checks to try
- Residue seen in the aperture at the top front of the drum
- Machine had been thoroughly cleaned following the user manual guidance
- Accepted reply suggested checking whether the machine has a cleaning cycle
- Parts or tools mentioned
- Small dishwasher brush
Safety: Further diagnosis should be carried out by a suitably qualified appliance engineer.

Yes it could be gunk from inside the heating chamber. Does the Miele washer dryer have a cleaning cycle? Young could try cleaning it out with a small dishwasher brush or something that could route about inside it. Also could try running the washer dryer cycle a few times but if bad it may need the heating chamber top taking off.
