IWDD7243 lock error?

My washing machine lock seems to have decided to go haywire.
Wheni try to use the machine and press the start button, the door lock light flashed and beeps. The door is then stuck, and I can only open it again by reaching into the top of the machine and pressing the top of the lock to release it.
Any idea what is wrong and how I can fix this as I really can't afford to replace the machine!!

Does it say anything in the instruction manual about what it means if the door lock light flashes? It could be an error code.
