Rubber seal destroyed

Hi. This is how I found our machine when I opened it. The seal has been rubbed and rubbed so much it tore off in a few places and there are bits of it everywhere.

The drum seems to move OK from what I've read here. It doesn't move up or down too much and isn't "stuck". I don't want to replace the seal in case it's a bigger problem.

I don't think it's rubbing in just one spot because more than one piece came off. Any ideas anyone?

Hi. That can be caused if something gets trapped between the drum rim and back of the door seal and gets dragged all around during spin. What laundry was in when it happened?

An item of laundry can get dragged around and do the damage, but not necessarily stay trapped.

Other causes can be if the drum pulley bolt came loose and allowed the drum to come forward. Or if drum bearings collapsed causing the drum to drop, or if one of the 3 drum spiders cracked or broke causing the drum to drop at one point.

It was a normal load and we didn't find anything trapped so far anyway. It looks like the steel drum, when it turns, isn't centred. I'm guessing the steel circle that touches the rubber seal, shouldn't move from side to side at all but ours does, by about 5mm. And that's exactly where a piece of rubber was cut off. But how could that happen? Is it the calibration or is that something completely different?
